Sight for Teens
Sight for Teens is an offshoot of LCIF's Sight for Kids, providing vision screenings and prescription eyeglasses to high school students suffering from vision problems.
Baguio City Host Lions Club, in partnership with Blazing Lights Ministries and Dr. Deborah Mangonon, conducted Sight for Teens screenings at the following schools: Tuba Central National High School, Tuba, Benguet Twin Peaks National High School, Tuba, Benguet Evelio Javier Memorial National High School, Tuba, Benguet Saytan National High School, Pugo, La Union Cuenca National High School, Pugo, La Union San Luis National High School, Pugo, La Union Pugo Central National High School, Pugo, La Union Maoasoas National High School, Pugo, La Union Nueva Vizcaya State University National High School, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya Solano High School, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya Anonang National High School, San Fabian, Pangasinan Mabilao National High School, San Fabian, Pangasinan Binday National High School, San Fabian, Pangasinan Loo National High School, Buguias, Benguet Sight for Teens is the brainchild of BCHLC Past President Eugene Fernandez. |

Global Music Competition for Violin
The Multiple District 301 Global Music Competition for Violin (National Level), sponsored by District 301-C headed by then-Governor Elmer O. Datuin of BCHLC, was held at the Baguio City Host Lions Clubhouse on March 13, 2010. The occasion was graced by world-renowned violin virtuoso Prof. Gilopez Kabayao and pianist Corazon Pineda Kabayao.
Audio Screening and Deaf-awareness Program
Baguio City Host Lions Club held an audio screening and audio lecture at the Baguio City Host Lions Clubhouse. Audio experts from Manila conducted hearing lectures and hearing screenings.
Eye Run 'Coz I Care
On October 24, 2010, Baguio City Host Lions Club's First Run-for-a-Cause, EYE RUN 'COZ I CARE, drew in almost a thousand registrants for its 3K, 5K and 16K races, starting and finishing at Burnham Park.
Proceeds from the run benefitted the Northern Luzon Association for the Blind and the Philippine National Red Cross - Baguio Chapter, and financed other outreach programs for indigents. A special event, "Be My Eyes," involved visually-impaired children and their sighted guides going through a 400-meter race course along Burnham Lake Drive. |
Typhoon Parma Relief OperationsIn October 2009, Baguio City Host Lions distributed relief goods to communities affected by the devastating Typhoon Pepeng (Typhoon Parma), including but not limited to the following areas:
Pinsao Proper, Baguio City Lourdes Extension, Baguio City Twin Peaks, Tuba, Benguet Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet Tublay, Benguet Tomay, La Trinidad, Benguet Members donated relief items (and cash to buy relief goods) such as rice, noodles, coffee, blankets, used clothes, etc. The club joined forces with the Philippine National Red Cross - Baguio Chapter, the Baguio Association of Restaurants, Distrct 301-C, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. through the Baguio Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations in bringing aid to the typhoon victims. |
Outreach - Mount Kabuyao Elementary SchoolBaguio City Host Lions Club, the Baguio City Dental Society, Red Cross - Baguio and other volunteers trekked to Mount Kabuyao Elementary School for a medical-dental mission and blood letting.
Oral health lectures were held and toothbrushes were given away to the schoolchildren. In addition, BCHLC donated text books and a brand new personal computer with printer to the school. |
Outreach - Asin Elementary SchoolBaguio City Host Lions Club and Baguio City Dental Chapter held a dental and medical mission at Asin Elementary School. Toothbrushes were also distributed to the children after the oral health lecture.
The club, through Lion Nida Salvador, also donated text books to Asin Elementary School. |
Mass Feeding at the Baguio Health CenterFor Nutrition Month of July 2007, the City Government of Baguio, the National Nutrition Council, the Philippine National Red Cross - Baguio Chapter and Baguio City Host Lions Club sponsored a mass feeding for hundreds of indigents at the Baguio Health Center.
