Ansagan, Tuba, Benguet
Baguio City Host Lions Club embarked on a mission to provide free eye screenings and distribute eyeglasses, used clothes and basic commodities such as rice and sardines to the residents of Ansagan. We also donated text books and other reading material to the pupils of the local school.
Barangay Ansagan is located in the southernmost tip of the municipality of Tuba, Benguet Province. It is perhaps the most impoverished barangay in Tuba, with a huge portion still without electricity, and its children having to walk great distances to go to school.
Getting to Ansagan is no easy matter, either. Although Tuba is adjacent to Baguio, it still took over four hours for the Baguio City Host Lions to get there due to the remoteness of Ansagan and due to the bad road conditions. But what a satisfying feeling it was when the Lions finally arrived at Ansagan and buckled down to work, helping those in need.
